CKEditor 3.6.3 Released!
Welcome to the past! 👻
Unfortunately, CKEditor 3 is no longer with us. RIP ❤️
Instead, you can check our new and powerful rich text editor framework, CKEditor 5. It has a modular architecture, integrations with popular JavaScript frameworks and features like real-time collaborative editing.
Or, you can discover CKEditor 4, which is an enterprise-grade WYSIWYG editor with countless features and wide browser compatibility including the legacy ones.
We are happy to announce the release of CKEditor 3.6.3. This is a maintenance release that contains a handful of bug fixes as well as a few new features, including new image and table alignment option and some accessibility enhancements.
Please note that this is probably going to be the last maintenance release of the editor before the release of CKEditor 4 that is now in the works and will bring many exciting new features and enhancements.
New CKEditor Features
CKEditor now makes it possible to align images just by using the Align toolbar buttons. This will allow you to fine-tune your document structure and make it more attractive with just one click of a button that will now act on a selected image and not on the whole paragraph or block.
Since we are always very much focused on bringing the accessibility of our products to a yet higher level, WAI-ARIA support for the color picker dialog window is now greatly improved, with JAWS being able to read color names when the user navigates between them by using the keyboard. Additionally, all editor dialog windows can now be closed by using the Esc key even if they do not contain a Cancel button.
Chrome 18 Fix
This release also fixes a Chrome 18 bug that makes it impossible to display the CKFinder popup in this browser after you click the "Browse Server" button in the editor. Please note that this problem does not occur in earlier or later Chrome versions nor in any other browser.
Editor Enhancements
Among many enhancements and fixes that are available with this release, you will be glad to see that various issues with the editor content scrolling to the top in Internet Explorer are now gone. Several fixes in the selections area should make working with CKEditor even more smooth than ever, with a notable example of corrections in how deletion works on list items.
Major Localization Updates
A few months ago we introduced a new localization tool, the CKEditor UI Translation Center that is hosted at Transifex. CKEditor 3.6.3 is the first release that shows the effects of the new process and we are really happy to see how successful it was. This release contains updates to the following languages: Arabic, Bulgarian, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Esperanto, Estonian, Faroese, French, German, Greek, Gujarati, Hindi, Italian, Norwegian (Bokmål and Nynorsk), Polish, Portuguese, Turkish, Uighur, Ukrainian, Vietnamese, Welsh. We would like to thank all our dedicated translators without whom this would never have been possible!
If you see that some localizations could still be enhanced, do not hesitate to join us now! We would be most happy to be able to provide CKEditor users all around the world with as many complete localized editor versions as possible.
