# AI Features
CKBox AI Features leverage generative artificial intelligence to automatically enhance your asset management workflow. This feature automatically generates descriptive tags and detailed descriptions for all image-like assets, making your content more discoverable and organized without manual effort.

> This is a Premium Feature and hence may not be available in all commercial plans.
## How AI Features work
The AI-powered metadata generation is seamlessly integrated into your upload workflow. When you upload image files (such as JPG, PNG, WebP, and other non-animated image formats), CKBox automatically analyzes the visual content using AI to:
* **Generate descriptive tags** that accurately describe the content, objects, colors, and context visible in the image
* **Create detailed descriptions** that provide comprehensive information about the image content, enhancing accessibility and searchability
* **Enable semantic search** by building an internal representation of each image’s visual content, allowing you to later find assets by describing what they depict in natural language
This process happens automatically in the background during file upload, requiring no additional user interaction.
AI analysis is also triggered when images are edited and saved as new files, since the visual content and context may have changed significantly.
## Enabling AI Features
AI Features are opt-in, meaning they must be explicitly enabled by a workspace administrator. This gives you full control over when and how AI processing is applied to your assets.

>
> The feature is enabled by default for all new workspaces.
### Administrator setup
To enable AI Features for your workspace:
1. Navigate to **Settings** in the left sidebar
2. Select the **AI Features** tab
3. Toggle **AI Access** to enable the feature
Once enabled, all new image uploads will automatically have AI-generated tags and descriptions applied.
> **Warning**
>
> AI Features only apply to newly uploaded assets after the feature is enabled. Existing assets in your workspace will not be automatically processed.
## Viewing AI-generated metadata
After uploading images with AI Features enabled, you can view the automatically generated tags and descriptions through the asset properties panel:
1. Select any image asset in your workspace
2. Click the **Properties** icon in the top toolbar
3. Navigate to the **Asset Properties** drawer that appears on the right side
4. View the AI-generated tags in the **Tags** section and description in the **Description** field
The AI-generated content can be edited or removed just like manually added metadata, giving you full control over your asset descriptions.
## Semantic search
CKBox offers a semantic search capability that goes beyond traditional keyword matching. While the standard search finds assets by matching your query against filenames, descriptions, and tags, semantic search uses AI to understand the meaning behind your query and match it against the visual content of your assets. This means you can describe what you are looking for in natural language – for example, searching for “a sunset over the ocean” will return relevant images even if none of their filenames, tags, or descriptions contain those exact words.
Semantic search works by analyzing the visual content of image-like assets when they are uploaded and creating an internal representation that captures what the image depicts. When you enter a search query, the AI compares the meaning of your query against these representations to find the most relevant results.
> **Note**
>
> Semantic search is limited to image-like assets only. Non-image files such as documents, videos, and audio files are not included in semantic search results. For these asset types, use the standard search.
### Using semantic search
To use semantic search, follow these steps:
1. Ensure that **AI Access** is enabled for your workspace. Navigate to **Settings** → **AI Features** and verify the toggle is on. See the [Enabling AI Features](#enabling-ai-features) section for details.
2. Open the search dialog by clicking the **magnifying glass** icon in the toolbar.
3. Toggle the **AI search** option to enable semantic search mode.
4. Enter a descriptive phrase for what you are looking for and run the search.
The results will display assets whose visual content best matches the meaning of your query, ranked by relevance.
